Paintings by Louise Bova

Ask Louise Bova what her favorite color is, and she'll surprise you with her response: "pattern!" She loves to capture the beauty of everyday life and infuse it with energy by twisting the perspective or adding layers of bright, vibrant color. Her influences include Matisse and Bonnard, the lonely scenes of Edward Hopper, and the emotional expressionism of the Fauvist painters.

A native New Yorker, Louise majored in painting at City University of New York at Brooklyn College and then studied graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has worked professionally as a graphic designer for national publishing companies, garnering design awards and having her work published.

In 2005, Louise left behind the grittiness of the Big Apple and moved to Florida where she is discovering the beauty of our natural surroundings. She currently works in a variety of media, most recently experimenting with oil pastels layered over acrylic paint.
