Fall's Feature Artist

Born in Masaya, Nicaragua, in 1972, Franck de Las Mercedes was raised in a family devoted to the arts.  In the mid-1980s, he moved to New York City after the Sandinista/Contra war forced his family to leave.  At age 25, he started working in visual arts, which soon became his career.  FdLM proclaims himself a self-taught artist who has spent the past five years developing his style, one with a striking use of color.  According to his website, his work "evokes feelings of solitude and longing and his subjects often seem to be caught on the edge of a delicate reality."
